Dulce De Leche - Cookies!

This is a follow-up to the post about how October 11th is World Dulce de Leche Day. I wanted to follow it up talking about my favorite cookie - alfajores.

I first had these when I went to Argentina several years ago. I absolutely love alfajores. They are one of my favorite cookies. Alfajores are two short bread cookies with dulce de leche in the middle creating a sandwich.

I made these once years ago, but have not recently. But Heather from Girlichef recently posted about some homemade alfajores she made. Don't they look yummy! Check out her recipe here.

As far as store bought alfajores, Havanna brand is my favorite. When I went to Argentina, a friend and I bought about 12 different types of alfajores and had a taste test to see which we liked the best. By far the Havanna brand was the best. I am not sure if you can find them here in the states, but I know you can find them on amazon, just click on the picture below.
