I have done a series of homemade dressings and have included a tab above, dressings & sauces, where you can find all of them listed with links.
A few weeks ago my creamy homemade blue cheese dressing was posted over at Happy Hour Projects. I had a request from my brother to make a non-creamy version. The same day my sister sent me her version of creamy blue cheese dressing. So I took both into account and came up with a non-creamy blue cheese dressing. And I have to say, it is fabulous. I might like it more than my creamy one.
WATER, SOYBEAN OIL, WHITE WINE VINEGAR , BLUE CHEESE (MILK, CHEESE CULTURES, SALT, ENZYMES), HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, SALT, EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL, GARLIC*, ONION*, SUGAR, XANTHAN GUM, NATURAL FLAVOR, SPICES, SODIUM BENZOATE ADDED AS PRESERVATIVE, CALCIUM DISODIUM EDTA ADDED TO PROTECT FLAVOR, ANNATTO COLOR. *DEHYDRATED
What are the natural flavors? Which spices? There needs to be high fructose corn syrup AND sugar?
Here is my recipe
6 Tbsp light olive oil
2 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 tsp honey
~ 4 oz blue cheese crumbles
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
In a bowl, add all ingredients and whisk together. I whisked pretty vigorously in order to break up the crumbles into smaller pieces so that they were more evenly dispersed.
Enjoy!

Oh, I love bleu cheese, but I've never-ever heard of a vinagrete dressing with it-- I may just die.

I think you are my new best friend LOL!
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to try this. I'm tired of my olive oil, mustard and honey combo and usually reach for a bottle of junk!
Thanks for sharing at Works for me Wednesday!
@ Nicole - I had never heard of a vinaigrette either. I thought I had made it up, but I guess others had thought of it as well. Thanks for following.
ReplyDelete@ Johnlyn - I am so glad you want to try this. I don't know if you have seen the other dressings I have under suzyhomemaker sauces, but they really are easy. Most of the time I just add the ingredients and whisk. No appliances required!
Good Seasons used to have a bleu cheese mix and it was wonderful. Now all they have is Italian. :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for inspiring me to make it from scratch!
@ pendy - good luck with making it from scratch. It will be much better and healthier!
